![]() ![]() When/if I get Atomos, I’ll be able to monitor what I’m shooting in HDR when I shoot 10-bit? Therefore, if I shoot Cinelike-D or something, I’ll lose the dynamic range and won’t have as much flexibility when grading, but I will still have HDR video (right? Basically, is 10-bit = HDR?). So to conclude, as far as I understand, I can shoot and grade HDR like this :Īny 10-bit video mode will do, VLog will only bring me more dynamic range but it’s not necessary for shooting HDR. What’s the correlation between gamuts, gamma? And what is a LUT range? LUTcalc offers different ranges and combinations from 100% to 109%. So when I’m grading HDR with 10-bit VLog clips, I essentially only need to correctly set the colorspace and the gamut in Resolve, then any footage will have correct black and white points? When I shoot 10-bit with VLog, do I need a different in-camera (and when doing the first pass of colorcorrection) LUT? I would assume so, since the one I downloaded from the Panasonic website is literally called “VLog-L to Rec709”. I’ve been staying away from HLG for the past year since I’ve had the GH5 and a few tutorials (mainly from CRFTSHO on YouTube) suggested grading for HDR10 and not HLG. ![]() What’s the difference between HLG and “regular” 10-bit VLog video? As I understand, HLG is its own HDR technology besides HDR10, and if you’re shooting VLog, you can grade for either HLG and HDR10? But when you shoot HLG, you need to set up Resolve for HLG workflow. What’s the difference between shooting 10-bit in some Natural picture profile and VLog? Some tutorials point out that VLog enables HDR shooting, but isn’t any 10-bit video an HDR video? (Not saying that tutorials say that 8-bit VLog video is HDR, but the 10-bit one.) (Just a sidenote, I understand you need a professional HDR monitor for HDR grading, but I really don’t have that kind of money as I’m mostly freelancing from home) “professionally” for the past few years besides my college and I thought I understood colour theory. I’m a one-man crew and making music videos, commercials, promos etc. Since there’s a lot of questions, I’d also greatly appreciate some info on where to find out more about these topics. I have a few questions, I would really appreciate some detailed ELI5 answers. I’m filming with GH5 with VLog and I’m planning to invest in Atomos Ninja Inferno mainly for HDR shooting and HDR grading (you can connect the recorder as a monitor to your PC and use it as an HDR grading monitor in Resolve). When searching youtube for “Resolve HDR workflow”, results are “SDR to HDR conversion”, “Resolve HDR look” etc. Everyone seems to be saying different things when it comes to HDR video. Hello guys, there’s a lot of information out there on google and youtube, but i don’t know who to trust. ![]()
